Fittest does exist, it's a semantic discussion, it just means exactly what you stated, fit enough to reproduce. Some of our systems involved in our survival are maladapted by our modern way of life like stress/cortisol. This system is not made to be chronically active. It's for acute situations and long term high levels of cortisol will mess up your physiology in many ways because it is not "meant" for non-acute every day living like stressful jobs. So now, not being stressed, ie. not having an constantly active acute survival system like this is now beneficial to survival(reproduction)

Gracias Senor Single mum due to DV, raised by 2alcoholics, crazy life, have CPTSD from the effects of my experiences. I don't like myself because I'm this hyper vigilant hyper tense seemingly inefficient woman, always chasing my tail. If I get a break from the kids I have so much to do every hour is accounted for. My days are mostly 20hours long and I I even think of rest instead of working on something or cleaning house etc, I get pangs of guilt and anxiety, simultaneously I'm ragingly indignant I don't get "me time" to relax, like now i feel guilty for having taken time to type this Oh Lawd😅 Work, scrap that, Relaxation in progress Sir! I was in Franklin, IN just south of Indy. Gorgeous clear skies and 4 mins of totality. Did you notice the nodule of light on the SW corner of the Sun? That was a big solar flare. Probably big enough for the Earth to fit inside the loop.

I saw it in Idabel Oklahoma. The 2 Nasa jets flew over in formation during totality

Driving though the village of Woodville on US23 on my way toward Fremont, OH, I noticed a little park along the edge of Portage River about three blocks off the main route on my navigation map. Lucked out with perfect place and 20 minutes before totality. While the shadows were sharp-edged and just as the birds began quickly flittering away to wherever they go, I noticed a dark cloud approaching and I may have uttered an obscenity... then realised it was the moon's shadow and not a bloody-damn cloud. More spectacular than the corona, those pink-red solar flares poking out from around the black dot were amazing. The mid-afternoon viewing of Venus and Jupiter was really cool. After almost four minutes of totality, the brilliance of that initial spark of sunlight made it clear to me that no partial can be at all relatable to the experience of a total solar eclipse.

We drove down to Milan, OH with family for our viewing location (we are also from the metro-Detroit area). I was amazing!

You were super near me then. I didn't have to travel thankfully. I didn't expect to feel the way I did about the eclipse since I know how it all works, but the sense of awe and wonder was incredible. So glad I got to experience it.
